Assunpink Lake Information
Location: Clarksburg, NJ. Monmouth County
Size: 225 acres
Depth: Average 5 feet; Maximum 14 feet.
Ramp and Parking: New three-boat-wide ramp and very large parking area were constructed in 2006.
Motor Limits: Electric trolling motors only.
Rules & Regulations: As a designated NJ Wildlife Management Area, a WMA tournament permit is required to hold a tournament with more than four boats or more than nine fishermen. By regulation, fishermen are required to display a copy of their fishing license in the window of their tow vehicle while parked here. As a designated NJ Lunker Bass Program lake, it has a 15" minimum size and limit of 3 bass per person.
Comments: A lake with a great reputation for big bass (some over 7 lbs). Our club has had only moderate success here, probably because no members know the lake very well. As waterfowl hunting is allowed on the lake, it's a good idea to avoid Saturday tournaments during hunting season.
Need for Morning Quiet?: No
Directions: From the south: Follow Route 295 North to the Trenton area. Get off at the Rt 195 East exit (Exit 60). Follow Rt 195 for 11.4 miles to the Cox's Corner/Imlaystown exit (Exit 11). From the exit ramp, turn left (north) and go over Rt 195. Follow this road straight for 2.5 miles to the ramp & parking area. At the first stop sign on this road, you will need to make a slight left/right zig-zag. At the third stop sign, you will need to bear left. The road becomes a bumpy dirt road long before you reach the parking area.
